Q) What is a private or custom tour?

A) A "private" and "custom" tour is the same thing: it is a tour arranged and given exclusively for a single group. Your group can be family, friends, students, colleagues, couples or even just yourself. Your group gets a licensed guide all to yourselves who will lead you in a friendly, safe and fun manner.

 

Q) How is a private or custom tour arranged?

A) Here is how a private or custom tour is arranged: first you contact us. We then call or email you back to get started. Together we discuss your interests, nature and size of group, schedule etc. and plan your tour experience. Everything can be customized: the time/date(s), transportation, tour itinerary and any special interests or needs you may have.

 

Q) What sort of tours are available?

A) Whatever you want! We have multiple tours to choose from which cover culture, neighborhoods, shopping, history and more. They can be personalized to fit your specific interests or needs. And you are not limited to just those: we can create a tour for any sort of interest or theme. Just tell us what you wanna see or do and we'll make it happen!

 

Q) How big or small can a tour group be?

A) We can usually accommodate a group of any size. It can be as little as 1 or more than 100!

 

Q) How far in advance must a tour be arranged?

A) A private or custom tour can be arranged for as soon as 1 hour, or as far ahead as 12 months or longer.

 

Q) Where will we meet for our tour?

A) Anywhere you want! We can meet in Manhattan, Brooklyn, your hotel, or any place that's convenient for you. We are happy to make suggestions about where to meet, and provide detailed directions. We usually suggest for you to take the subway to Brooklyn - we will give a convenient meeting location, and directions. This saves you money because you do not need to pay for Manhattan pickup.

 

Q) How will we get around on our tour?

A) We can tour on foot (walking is a great, authentic way to experience Brooklyn) or by vehicle: we can provide transportation, or we can tour on your own bus or chartered vehicle ("Step-on"). View our transportation page for more information about the vehicle options we offer.

 

Q) One of our group members has difficulty walking. Can you accommodate us?

A) Yes! We encounter this all the time, and it almost never prevents someone from experiencing the magic of Brooklyn. Just tell us about any mobility challenges and we'll work it out.

 

Q) Can you help us decide where we should go and what we should do on our tour?

A) Nothing would give us greater pleasure than assisting you in planning an unforgettable day in Brooklyn. We are happy to provide suggestions, and have experience with many different types of groups, so we can recommend the best options to suit your interests and needs.

 

A) What age(s) are the tours appropriate for?

A) Our private and custom tours have no age restrictions, but are recommended for ages 13+. The nature, theme and content of your tour will be crafted to suit the age(s) of your group.

 

Q) Are tours available in foreign languages?

A) Currently we offer our private and custom tours in English only. If you desire a tour in a foreign language you may contact us, we might be able to refer you to someone who can be accommodating.

 

Q) How much does a private or custom tour cost?

A) A private or custom tour begins at $180.00 for 2 hour. Transportation, food or gratuities (optional) are extra.

Q) Should I tip our guide?

A) Although strictly optional, tipping is customary for tours in New York City and Brooklyn. We recommend approximately $5-20 total with a smaller group, or $1-2 per person in a larger group. Tips can be given as cash or check directly to your guide or through our office.

If you have a driver on your tour it is advisable to tip them approximately 5-10% of the ride cost (suggested, not required).

 

Q) When is the payment for a tour required?

A) Payment schedules vary dependent on the size of group, amount of time in advance, etc. We will specify the payment guidelines when we first contact you, prior to planning your tour. Usually we collect the whole sum in advance, at time of reservation. Our full payment policy can be viewed on our policies page.

 

Q) What is the cancellation policy?

A) A private or custom tour can be cancelled or rescheduled up to seven (7) days in advance. From seven days prior to a tour it is our policy not to issue refunds or permit rescheduling. Based on the circumstances and at our discretion we may choose to make an exception. Our full cancellation policy can be viewed on our policies page.
